Devasthanam Accommodations

The Temple has five lodging facilities for pilgrims:

• Dhandapani Nilayam,
• Karthikeyan Viduthi (Lodge)
• Goshala Viduthi
• Cottages; and
• Velavan Viduthi (Lodge)

Palani Devasthanam offers air-conditioned deluxe cottages at Dandapani Nilayam with their lobby, drawing room, bedroom with two beds, dining room, kitchen, bath, running hot water, European commode, sophisticated furniture, exquisite carpets, telephone, cup-boards and chest of drawers is all the luxury you can command in a religious atmosphere.

The Devasthanam has constructed pilgrims’ resthouses, single, double, deluxe and air-conditioned rooms as well as cottages. Reasonable rates are collected from the devotees.

There are fully furnished special rooms and first class rooms with a mosaic floor-space of 700 sq.ft. each and attached baths. These are suites with king-sized sitting room and bedroom, and verandahs in front of and behind them. This type of accommodation is available in both Dandapani Nilayam and Old Choultry.

There are comfortable double rooms with attached bath in Karttikeyan Illam. The third class rooms have a common bath. The Devasthānam provides a rent-free shed for poor pilgrims at the Giri Veedi. Thus, the Devasthānam caters to the poor, the rich and the multitude in between, in fact to every cross-section of society.

The cottages have all the facilities available in first-class rooms plus the privacy of home; there are 60 of them along the Giri Veedi. Advance booking is suggested, for every type of accommodation.

In every cottage and room, a picture of Lord Dandayudhapani framed in a glass case is hung in the wall. The Devasthānam Canteen, run by an experienced contractor, prepares royal food at reasonable prices. Room service can be arranged. Devasthānam staff everywhere are noted for their ‘service with a smile’. Please note that only vegetarian menu is available.

• Cottages (Phone: 04545-242493). In the Giriveethi (circumference of the holy hill) near the Administrative Office of the Palani Temple there are 62 cottages that are available.
• Karthikeyan Viduthi is also run by Devasthanam and it is equipped with 78 Rooms. The tariff depends upon the festive seasons.
