The Story of Bhogar Siddhar

The entrance to Śrī Bhogar’s sannidhi, Dandayudhapani Swami Kovil, Palani Brahma Deva worshipping Lord Śrī Subrahmanya during the Kreta Yuga. God Indra worshipping Lord Subrahmanya during the Treta Yuga Bhogar receiving instructions from his teacher, Kālāngi Nāthar Bhogar, while traversing the sky, observes faraway places like Mecca, Medina, Rome, and China. Bhogar observes a white elephant, white crow, reddish heron, emeralds and other gem stones on the northern side of Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain. After travelling widely, at the end of the Dwaapaara Yuga Bhogar settles on the top of Palani Hill. He worships the staff (danda) and the sacred water vessel (kamandalam). At the beginning of Kali Yuga, Bhogar instructs siddhars (spiritual knowers) on how to create a vigraha (image for worship), using nine mineral substances. Bhogar, using the nine different minerals, creates the Dandapāni vigraha and sanctifies it. Bhogar worshipping Lord Dandāyudha. In the 205th year of Kali Yuga, Bhogar appoints his student Pulippaani to perform the Śrī Dandaayudhapaani worship. Bhogar creates a throne in the cave, and uses the eight saktis (powers), like Nava Durga, Śrī Bhuvaneswari, Maragathalingam and right-faced conch for worship, and enters the cave. Bhogar attains nirvikalpa samadhi (absolute cosmic consciousness) inside his cave.
